Edo Gov 2025

Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, the Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area, over growing concerns of insecurity in the area.

The decision was made public in an official statement released on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, Grassroot Parrot reports.

According to the statement, the suspension follows a series of incessant kidnappings and killings that have plagued the Uwano Kingdom in recent times, raising concerns over the monarch’s role in addressing or preventing the security breakdown.

The governor’s directive also follows the arrest of Chief Peter Omiogbemhi, secretary to the suspended monarch, in connection with a recent violent incident that led to the death of a palace chief, identified as Late John Ikhamate.

“Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, the Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom, Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, over recent cases of incessant kidnapping and killings in his domain,” the statement read in part.

“Already, his secretary, Chief Peter Omiogbemhi, has been arrested by the relevant authorities, following a recent incident that led to the death of a palace chief, Late John Ikhamate. The suspension of the traditional ruler is indefinite.” The statement concludes.
