The Kano State House of Assembly has passed the Kano State Censorship Board Amendment Bill 2025, granting the board broader regulatory authority over entertainment and media content within the state.
The passage of the bill took place during the plenary session on Tuesday, following the consideration of the Committee of the Whole House and the third reading by the Clerk, Bashir Diso. The session was presided over by the Speaker, Ismail Falgore.
Briefing journalists after the plenary, Lawan Husseini, the lawmaker representing Dala Constituency, disclosed that the amendment empowers the board to oversee the registration of event centers and enforce strict compliance with Islamic principles in entertainment-related activities.
