Kano Govt To Tinubu: Remove The Emir You Appoint And Take Him To Your State

The Kano State Government has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and order the removal of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from the Nasarawa Palace in Kano, citing concerns over peace and stability in the state.

According to the government, certain individuals are taking advantage of the emir’s presence in Nasarawa Palace to incite unrest among the populace.

The call for his removal was reiterated by the state’s Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, during the distribution of relief materials at the Kano Government House. The materials were provided by Hon. Kabiru Dahiru Sule, the representative of Tarauni Federal Constituency.

“We are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the emir he enthroned and kept in a graveyard,” Gwarzo declared.

Expressing frustration over the situation, Gwarzo condemned the deployment of security forces against peaceful protesters, alleging that teargas and possibly live ammunition were used to disperse demonstrators.

He also raised concerns over military vehicles patrolling the city and even parking in front of his residence, stressing that the state government would not be intimidated.

“This is a democracy, and democracy must be upheld, whether some people like it or not. We stand firmly with the youth who took to the streets to express their grievances,” he stated.

Gwarzo further argued that Emir Aminu Ado Bayero’s continued stay in Nasarawa Palace was a strategic move to undermine the authority of the Kano State Government.

He emphasized that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains the only constitutional authority with the power to appoint an emir in the state.

“The president should remove the emir he appointed and take him to his own state. Kano already has an emir, and that is Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Today, regardless of who you are, even if you are the ‘Emir of the World,’ you cannot appoint an emir in Kano unless you are Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,” he added.

The deputy governor also defended the right of Kano residents to engage in peaceful protests, condemning security forces for arresting demonstrators.

He reiterated the government’s position that the law, which facilitated the appointment of the former emir, has also reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi II, and the rule of law must be followed.

The Kano State Government maintains that its call for Emir Bayero’s removal is necessary to restore stability and ensure that the state government can effectively carry out its duties without interference.

The administration insists that President Tinubu must act decisively to resolve the growing tensions surrounding the emirate dispute.
