The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has intensified its efforts to combat drug-related activities, conducting major raids at notorious drug hotspots across the metropolis.

The operation, carried out on January 30, targeted areas notorious for drug trafficking and abuse, including Fagge, Kwarin Kaya, Kofar Wambai, and Kofar Mata.

As a result, 18 suspects linked to various drug offenses were arrested, and significant quantities of illicit substances were recovered.

Speaking on the development, the NDLEA Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to its mandate.

“This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to rid Kano of drug-related crimes. We stormed these identified hotspots and successfully apprehended suspects in possession of illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa and Rubber Solution,” Maigatari stated.

Maigatari, an Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics (ASN), further disclosed that locally made dangerous weapons were also recovered, especially in Kwarin Kaya, where some suspects attempted to intimidate officers.

“The raid at Kwarin Kaya was particularly tense as some individuals tried to threaten our operatives from a distance. However, our officers remained resolute and ensured the operation proceeded without any incident,” he added.

The NDLEA State Commander, AI Ahmad, reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to tackling drug-related offenses in Kano.

“We will continue to dismantle drug syndicates and ensure that those involved in drug trafficking and abuse face the full wrath of the law.

The NDLEA is dedicated to securing our communities and making Kano a drug-free state,” Ahmad emphasized.

He assured that all arrested suspects would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted according to the law.

The NDLEA urged residents to support their efforts by providing relevant information that could help in eradicating drug-related crimes in the state.
