The Kano State Police Command has apprehended Inuwa Zakari, known as “Gundura,” a notorious thug wanted for multiple thuggery-related crimes, along with 14 other suspects.

The arrests were part of a strategic crackdown on criminal activities across the state, conducted over a three-day period from October 25 to 27, 2024.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, announced the arrest on Monday, October 28, revealing that Gundura, aged 24, had long been on the police’s radar for allegedly terrorizing Kano’s metropolis.

“The Kano State Police Command has arrested one Inuwa Zakari, ‘m’, popularly known as ‘Gundura,’ 24 years old, who is in the Command’s list of notorious criminals terrorizing the State Metropolis,” the statement said.

Gundura is accused of conspiring with others to attack a Vigilante Commander, inflicting life-threatening injuries by severing the victim’s hand, and damaging a police vehicle in a separate incident.

The arrests were part of an intensive operation directed by CP Salman Dogo Garba, who ordered all Tactical Commanders to intensify efforts against thuggery by maintaining 24-hour visibility patrols and enhancing intelligence operations.

SP Kiyawa emphasized the police’s stance against criminal activities, stating, “The diligent efforts of the Command send a clear message that thuggery and other violent criminal activities will not be tolerated in the State.” He reassured the public of the police’s continued commitment to maintaining peace and safety.
