A Shari’a court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State has refrain one has Aminu Adamu from entering his former wife’s bedroom to visit their children, following the confirmation of their divorce.
The court delivered the ruling on Thursday after validating the three divorce pronouncements made by Adamu to his ex-wife, Jamila Sani.
Presiding Judge, Malam Anas Khalifa, declared that there was no longer a marital relationship between Adamu and Sani due to the repeated pronouncements of divorce, which are recognized under Islamic law.

“There is no marriage between you and her because of the divorce pronouncement. You must refrain from meeting with her in private. If you must see your children, see them outside her room,” the judge stated during the ruling.
The court, however, ordered Adamu to continue fulfilling his parental responsibilities despite the separation. He was instructed to provide for the children’s basic needs, including feeding, school fees, shelter, and health care.
The ruling came after Jamila Sani, the complainant, requested the court to confirm the divorce and grant her custody of their children. While the judge did not specify custody arrangements, the ruling effectively barred Adamu from entering Sani’s personal space, underscoring the separation of their personal interactions post-divorce.

In response to the ruling, Adamu pledged to provide N15,000 weekly as a feeding allowance for the children. The judge acknowledged his promise and reminded him of his duty to consistently support his children’s welfare, even after the dissolution of his marriage to Sani.
The case highlights the application of Shari’a law in marital disputes and post-divorce arrangements, ensuring that while ex-spouses maintain necessary boundaries, children’s rights and welfare are safeguarded.
