Miss Saka Aliyat etched her name in history at the Choice De Immaculate Demonstration School (CIDS), Obosi, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, emerging as the overall best graduating student of the year.

Aliyat, a native of Osun State, stunned guests and fellow students as she carted away multiple awards across arts and science subjects—including Igbo Language, English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics, and Marketing.

In an emotional highlight that drew applause from the audience, the Yoruba girl—who has spent years studying in the southeastern state—was also honored with awards for Neatest/Complete Uniform, Affinity to Students, Most Hardworking Student, Most Disciplined, and Most Punctual.

The 15th Valedictory/Sendforth Ceremony and Prize-Giving Day of the school was filled with excitement as parents, teachers, and dignitaries cheered the young scholar, describing her as a symbol of academic excellence and cultural harmony.

Speaking shortly after receiving her awards, Miss Aliyat attributed her success to discipline, focus, and the guidance of her teachers and the school director.

“My advice to other students is to remain dedicated, enthusiastic, and hardworking,” she said. “Always obey your teachers and our director, who has been my mentor. With commitment and diligence, success is certain.”

In his remarks, the Director of the school, Engr. Solomy Ochokwu, praised Aliyat for her outstanding performance and encouraged all graduating students to uphold the values of integrity, courage, and resilience as they venture into the wider world.

“We are proud of the kind of students we’ve nurtured here,” Ochokwu said. “They must carry with them the lessons of excellence and discipline they’ve learned in CIDS—to become the best versions of themselves.”

Aliyat’s remarkable feat—a Yoruba girl excelling and winning Best in Igbo Language in the heart of Anambra—has since sparked admiration across social media, where many Nigerians have hailed her as a shining example of unity, diligence, and cross-cultural excellence.
