The Ogun State Government has confirmed that two persons who lost their lives in the road crash involving former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, are foreign nationals.
The fatal accident occurred on Monday morning along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, in front of Sinoma, before Danco, sending shockwaves across the state and beyond.
The disclosure was made by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, in a statement issued to journalists in Abeokuta.
According to the statement, the crash happened at about 11:00am when Joshua was travelling from Lagos to Sagamu in a Lexus SUV with registration number KRD 850 HN. The vehicle reportedly rammed into a stationary car, leading to the tragic loss of lives.

“Preliminary reports indicate that two male foreign nationals died on the spot. Their remains have since been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu,” the statement read.
According to reports, Anthony Joshua sustained injuries in the accident alongside the driver of the vehicle who were immediately rescued by security personnel attached to his convoy and rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

Expressing the state government’s condolences, Akinmade said Ogun State deeply mourns the victims of the crash.
“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident, which the State considers a devastating loss,” he said.
“As we mourn collectively, we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured. May Almighty God grant the families left behind the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
