A prominent figure of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding the political dynamics of Kano State.
Galadima, known for his outspoken nature, cautioned the federal government against meddling in the intricate political landscape of Kano, asserting that such interference could jeopardize Tinubu’s presidency.
“The federal government and President Bola Tinubu need to be cautious with Kano politics. It will destroy his presidency,” Galadima declared.

He criticized the federal support for favoring one faction over another within Kano’s political scene and condemned the influence of federal authorities in the conferring of chieftaincy titles.
Highlighting the indomitable spirit of Kano’s populace, Galadima emphasized their resilience and determination.
While reflecting on his political journey, he expressed a deep sense of disillusionment about the future of Nigeria, attributing his political realignments to principled stands rather than personal ambition.

Recalling past electoral battles, Galadima recounted how the NNPP triumphed over its adversaries in both 2011 and 2023, despite facing significant manipulations and coercive tactics.
He also criticized the judiciary’s handling of electoral disputes, pointing to instances of perceived bias and manipulation.
In his remarks, Galadima urged the current governor of Kano to assert his authority, even in the face of opposition from police advisors, to maintain his credibility.

He cited a recent event where, despite police resistance, the Emir participated in celebrations, showcasing the local resolve.
Galadima underscored the importance of preserving democracy, despite its flaws, and voiced his opposition to the creation of state police, warning that it could lead to national disintegration.
He lambasted the current legislative body, accusing it of being populated by businessmen rather than genuine legislators.

Addressing the broader political climate, the veteran politician expressed dismay over the self-inflicted political turmoil in Nigeria.
He lamented that Nigerians themselves are the architects of the country’s political woes. He expressed particular disappointment in the electorate, citing instances where voters were swayed by trivial incentives such as a packet of noodles worth 200 naira.
Galadima’s critique extended to leaders and the masses alike, noting that even those who initially appear principled often change when they attain power.
