President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident at the Children’s FunFair in Ibadan, which claimed several lives and left many others injured.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the president extended his condolences to the government and people of Oyo State, as well as to the grieving families.
The president described the incident as a devastating loss and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
“It is imperative to determine whether negligence or deliberate actions contributed to this unfortunate event, ensuring a transparent and accountable process,” the statement read.

President Tinubu directed the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and urged the Oyo State Government to take every necessary measure to prevent a recurrence.
Among the essential actions highlighted, according to him, is that all public events must undergo strict safety evaluations to ensure compliance with regulations.
Organizers of any events must adhere to strict safety guidelines to safeguard attendees, and event venues should be subject to frequent inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
“Event organizers must prioritize the safety of all attendees, especially children. Professional security, protocol, and logistics should be integrated into every event to guarantee the utmost safety of participants,” Tinubu stated.

The president reiterated that children’s safety and well-being are paramount. “No event should ever compromise their safety or take precedence over their lives,” he said.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families who lost their loved ones in the tragic incident.
“In this moment of mourning, I stand in solidarity with the affected families and offer prayers that the Almighty God will grant peace to the souls of those who have departed in this unfortunate event,” he added.
