Terrorists suspected to be members of the Lakurawa group has reportedly killed four individuals, including three employees of a leading telecommunications company, Airtel, and one other person whose identity remains unknown.
The attack occurred at a construction site in Gumki village, Arewa Local Government Area, Kebbi State around 8:47 pm on January 10, 2025,
The victims were reportedly installing a surveillance mast for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) when the insurgents struck. The tragic event comes barely a week after the same group allegedly killed two police officers in the area.

The identities of the deceased have been a source of conflicting reports. While the police stated that three of the victims were Airtel staff, locals and a staff member of Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital in Birnin Kebbi claimed the victims were immigration officers.
SP Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the deaths and stated that Commissioner of Police (CP) Bello M. Sani, alongside the Kebbi State Comptroller of Immigration, CIS Muhammad Bashir Lawali, mobilized their teams to the scene to evacuate the bodies to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital.
In response to the attack, CP Sani has deployed additional tactical teams to the area, charging them with decisively tackling the activities of suspected bandits.
He also held a meeting with community members, urging them to cooperate with law enforcement by providing timely and accurate information to aid in preventing further attacks.

This latest attack add to the growing security challenges in Kebbi State and highlights the need for enhanced surveillance and rapid response measures.
