The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, along with his entourage, has arrived in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State for the coronation of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Sultan who was warmly received at Ibadan Airport, Alakia, by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal along side his delegation are in town for the installation and coronation of the newly crowned Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The Deputy Governor, who led the state’s welcoming delegation, was joined by the Personal Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde, Alhaji Akeem Azeez.

Other notable figures in the welcoming party included the Executive Secretary of Muslim Ummah Southwest Nigeria (MUSWEN), Professor Musliu Tayo Yahya; the Secretary of the Muslim Community of Oyo State, Alhaji Murisiq Bidemi Siyanbade; the State Coordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Daud Afolabi; and the PRO of MSSN (Oyo Branch), Abdul Jeleel Abdul Razak.
The regular visits by the Sultan of Sokoto to Oyo State underscore the state government’s commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship among religious communities.
This visit, in particular, highlights the importance of the coronation ceremony and the significance of the Olubadan’s role in Ibadanland.

Governor Seyi Makinde recently approved the Olubadan-In-Council’s nomination of Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland and scheduled the coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office for July 12, 2024.
The event promises to be a significant occasion, with dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond expected to attend, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Ibadanland and the installation of its new traditional leader.
