The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that death toll in a tragic stampede during an almsgiving programme in in the state has risen to seven.
Grassroots Parrot gathered that all of the victims were female with age range between eight and 55.
No fewer than four people were earlier declared to have lost their lives over the weekend in the stampede during the almsgiving exercise in the state.
The alms popularly known as Zakat in Islam were donated by a philanthropist, Alhaji Yakubu Maishanu within Bauchi metropolis.
It was reported that many residents had gathered to receive N10, 000 each as alms for the poor which was generously provided by the philanthropist.
The stampede occurred on Sunday at the Shafa Holdings Company Plc headquarters along Jos Road on Sunday at about 10 a.m.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, confirmed the incident to newsmen, adding that the situation has been stabilised.
While giving more update in a statement on Monday, Wakili said six of the victims were pronounced dead at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital while one died at home.
The spokesman gave the details of the deceased to include 13 year old Aisha Usman of Gwang Gwang Gwang, 55year old Sahura Abubakar of Anguwan and 43 year old Aisha Ibrahim Abubakar of Kobi Street
Others were eight year old Khadija Isah of Karofi, 20 year old Maryam Suleiman of Kandahar, 16 year old Maryam Shuibu of Gwang Gwan Gwan and 53 year old Hassana Saidu of Dutsen Tanshi. All of them hailed from the State.
But there was chaos during the event, resulting in the stampede, according to the Police statement.
