Amidst the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, two commissioners have tendered their resignations from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet.
The two commissioners, Prof. Chinedu Mmom, who served as Commissioner for Education, and Ben-Golden Chioma, Commissioner for Environment, are known loyalits of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Mmom submitted his resignation letter earlier today through the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, citing toxicity within the administration of Fubara as his reason for stepping down.

In his letter, Mmom expressed concerns about the hostile work environment and the lack of trust and unity among colleagues in the cabinet, stating that it hindered his ability to effectively contribute to the education sector in the state.
Shortly after, Commissioner for Environment also submitted his resignation dated the same day, citing the political crisis in the state and personal reasons for his decision to step down as Commissioner for Environment.

Both commissioners expressed gratitude to Governor Fubara for the opportunity to serve in his administration and wished the government success moving forward.
Gov. Similaye Fubara have being in political loggerhead with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike since the inception of his administration as both camps were seen losing and gaining loyalists to their sides every other day.
