President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the proposed N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17.
The announcement follows Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s earlier disclosure during Thursday’s plenary, where he informed lawmakers of the president’s intention to present the budget on December 17.
Akpabio stated that the presentation would take place in the House of Representatives Chamber, with plenary starting at 10:30 am to allow senators to convene in the Red Chamber before proceeding to the joint session.

President Tinubu’s proposed budget is anchored on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for 2025–2027, which he submitted to the National Assembly last month.
The MTEF and FSP serve as the blueprint for the country’s budget planning, outlining the government’s economic strategies and expenditure priorities.
However, despite this crucial preparatory step, the proposed budget has yet to be formally presented to lawmakers.
The budget presentation is a key constitutional requirement, setting the tone for Nigeria’s fiscal policy and development agenda in the coming year.
