In the wake of Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment, fresh details have emerged spotlighting the influential role played by a respected political leader in Lagos State Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi.
According to a report by ThisDay, Olusi provided President Bola Tinubu with a comprehensive situation report that ultimately set the stage for Obasa’s dramatic removal from office.
Sources close to the matter revealed that Olusi accused Obasa of persistent insubordination toward political leaders in Lagos, citing instances of disrespect toward Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Allegations included deliberate actions undermining the governor’s authority, such as Obasa’s conspicuous absence from critical state events, habitual delays in attending official functions, and his refusal to approve Sanwo-Olu’s executive council nominees without extracting political favours.

Adding fuel to the fire were Obasa’s gubernatorial ambitions, which reportedly strained relationships within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His assertion that “no one could stop him” from becoming Lagos’ next governor alarmed party stalwarts and raised doubts about his loyalty to the party’s leadership.
Olusi’s briefing to President Tinubu is said to have been instrumental in galvanizing the political momentum needed for Obasa’s impeachment.
