Tragedy struck in Gwagwalada, Abuja, as a police inspector, Lawal Ibrahim, was found dead at the Palasa Guest Inn under mysterious circumstances.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning, January 16, shortly after he reportedly engaged in sexual encounter with a woman he had met online.
According to reports, Ibrahim, who was attached to the Kwali Division of the Nigeria Police Force, checked into the hotel on Wednesday, January 15, accompanied by Maryam Abba, a woman he had invited from Dutse, Jigawa State.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the two engaged in intercourse on Wednesday night, followed by another session early on Thursday morning.

However, events took a grim turn after the second encounter, as Maryam reportedly observed that Ibrahim’s breathing became irregular, and he became unresponsive.
In a desperate attempt to revive him, she sprinkled water on him but to no avail. Alarmed by the situation, Maryam alerted the hotel manager, Danlami Palasa, who promptly contacted the police.
Officers from the Gwagwalada division arrived at the scene and discovered Ibrahim’s lifeless body in the hotel room.
His remains were subsequently transported to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death. The body has since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for further examination.
Items recovered from the room included a watermelon, a suspected aphrodisiac, Ibrahim’s phone charger, and his police identification card.

These items are expected to form part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
A source from the Gwagwalada police division confirmed the incident, revealing that Maryam had been taken into custody for questioning.
“The matter is under investigation, and we are working to determine the exact cause of the inspector’s death,” the officer said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
The tragic incident has sparked conversations around the potential health risks associated with the use of performance-enhancing substances and the importance of health checks.
The police force has yet to release an official statement on the matter as investigations continue.
