The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has inaugurated a 231-units of streetlight project and a five-kilometre road in Dawakin Tofa, the hometown of his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Grassroots Parrot recalls that the five-kilometer road project was initiated across the 44 local government areas of the state by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State governor towards the end of his tenure in 2015.

Ganduje deputized  Kwankwaso between 2011 and 2015. However, the projects were abandoned for eight years of Ganduje’s tenure, when he took over from his predecessor.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the streetlight and road projects are part of his administration’s dedication to providing essential amenities for the people of Kano State.

Yusuf was quoted as urging the residents of Dawakin Tofa to make good use of the new facilities and remain vigilant to protect them from vandalism.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chairman, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area Hon. Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki, represented by his deputy Hon. Abdullahi Magaji Aliyu (Kosasshe) commended Governor Yusuf for completing the long-delayed project.

He highlighted the transformative impact of the streetlights, noting that they will enhance safety, boost economic activities, and improve the quality of life in the area.

Magaji also appealed to the governor to consider reopening the Entrepreneurship Institute in Dawakin Tofa, which has been closed down by the Ganduje administration.

He stressed that reviving the institution would equip local youth with valuable skills for self-reliance and economic growth.
