The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old suspect, Usman Sagiru, in connection with the fatal attack on vigilante members in the entourage of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 30, at approximately 12:40 pm, as worshippers dispersed from the Eid praying ground.

According to police reports, Sagiru, a resident of Sharifai Quarters, and other unidentified suspects allegedly stabbed Surajo Rabiu, a vigilante member from Sabon Titi Jaba Quarters.

Rabiu later succumbed to his injuries. Another vigilante member, Aminu Suleman from Kofar Mata Quarters, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.

Authorities have since launched a full investigation into the attack. As part of the ongoing probe, the police have invited Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, for questioning.
