Panic As 15-Year-Old Boy Fall Into Gari Dam In Kano

A 15-year-old boy, Yusuf Danliti, has been rescued after falling into an open body of water at Gari Dam in Gari Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the service received a distress call at about 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The call was placed by one Usman Garba, who reported the incident at Gari Dam.

The statement said firefighters from the Gari Fire Station responded promptly to the emergency call. On arrival at the scene, they discovered that the teenager had fallen into an open body of water at the dam.

“The victim was rescued unconscious and subsequently handed over to the Village Head of the area, Lawan Zangina, for further action,” the Fire Service stated.

Speaking on the incident, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant and closely monitor their children.

He particularly warned against local swimming in open water, noting that such practices have continued to result in loss of lives across the state.

The Kano State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that it remains ready to respond swiftly to emergencies across Kano State.
