In a statement issued on behalf of the palace on Sunday, the monarch urged the faithful to dedicate the final days of the fasting period to praying for stability in troubled parts of the world, particularly regions facing war and unrest.
“These final days of Ramadan carry immense spiritual weight,” the Oba said. “I call on every Yoruba person, wherever you are, to raise your voice in prayer for our brothers and sisters in all parts of the world facing the horrors of war. May peace reign supreme.”
The traditional ruler also used the occasion to offer prayers for the Kano State Government and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, appreciating what he described as the enduring hospitality and protection extended to the Yoruba community in the state.
He noted that the atmosphere of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence in Kano had strengthened ties between the Yoruba community and their host communities.
“We are grateful for the atmosphere of brotherhood fostered by the state government and the Emirate,” he added. “Their leadership has ensured that we feel at home, and for this we pray for their continued wisdom and for the prosperity of Kano State.”
The monarch also wished Muslims in Kano, Nigeria and across the world a peaceful conclusion of the Ramadan fast and an advance happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
