Former President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the handling of Nigeria’s economy and security during his tenure from 2015 to 2023.

Buhari made these remarks on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at his country home in Daura, Katsina State.

He asserted that his administration significantly improved Nigeria’s economic and security conditions compared to when he assumed office in 2015.

Reflecting on the state of affairs inherited from the preceding People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led government, Buhari stated that his government deployed effective strategies to combat economic hardship and security threats, including terrorism.

“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” he said.

Buhari also acknowledged the inherent challenges of governance, noting that only those who have held positions of power can fully comprehend the complexities involved in running a nation.

His comments followed commendation from the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, who praised Buhari’s efforts in addressing terrorism, banditry, and other security issues during his tenure.

Ibrahim-Jargaba also lauded Buhari’s dedication and selfless service, which he credited with helping to maintain national unity.
