At least 15 people were killed on Friday in a deadly clash between residents of Mera village and members of a newly-emerged terrorist group, Lakurawa, in Kebbi State.

Grassroots Parrot reported how military authorities have confirmed the group’s existence, the group were reportedly linked to ISIS cells in the Sahel region.

The confrontation took place in the Augie local government area of Kebbi State as Lakurawa members attempted a raid on the community to steal livestock.

The attack was resisted by Mera residents after a herder raised the alarm, prompting locals to mobilize and confront the heavily armed terrorists.
