A wave of shock swept through Hotoro Maraba in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday, December 15, after a violent incident erupted inside a mosque during the early hours of the morning.
According to local accounts, a young man allegedly attacked and killed an Adhan caller while worshippers were preparing for the Asuba (dawn) prayer. The victim, identified as Malam Kasim, was said to be calling the Adhan inside the mosque when the suspect reportedly slit his throat.
Eyewitnesses said the assault occurred within the mosque premises, throwing worshippers and residents into panic and shattering the usually calm atmosphere that characterises early morning prayers in the area.
In the immediate aftermath, angry youths in the neighbourhood reportedly descended on the suspected assailant. The situation quickly escalated, and the suspect was killed at the scene in what witnesses described as a reprisal attack.
