A 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, has been arrested in Sepeteri, Oyo State, for allegedly killing his elder brother with a heavy rock after claiming the victim attacked him in a dream.
Suleiman, said to be a resident of Alegunlode Compound in Sepeteri, reportedly woke up convinced that his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, had shot him while he was asleep.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the suspect allegedly acted on the belief and attacked the deceased.
The statement explained that a resident of the community, Badmus Yunisa, reported the incident, alleging that Suleiman approached his brother while he was seated, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head, and fled the scene immediately.
The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri but was later confirmed dead by the attending medical doctor.

Police operatives from the Ago-Amodu Divisional Headquarters promptly visited both the crime scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations before launching a manhunt for the suspect.
Suleiman was subsequently tracked down and arrested. Police authorities disclosed that he has confessed to the crime and is currently cooperating with investigators.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for what the command described as a discreet and comprehensive investigation.
The police assured members of the public that justice would be pursued diligently and in accordance with the law.
