Twenty-three people have been confirmed dead and 108 others injured following multiple bomb explosions that struck parts of Maiduguri on Monday evening.
The blasts, which occurred almost simultaneously, targeted the Maiduguri Monday Market, the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital gate, and the Post Office Flyover area.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, said preliminary investigations indicate the attacks were carried out by suspected suicide bombers.
He added that security operatives, including the police, military, and explosive ordnance teams, were swiftly deployed to secure the affected areas and conduct sweep operations to prevent further threats.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmaji, also visited the scenes to assess the situation and commiserate with victims and their families, assuring residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property.

Emergency responders, including the National Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency, evacuated victims to hospitals for treatment.
Authorities said normalcy has been restored, with heightened security presence across the city, while investigations are ongoing.
Reacting to the attack, Babagana Zulum, Governor of Borno State, condemned the incident as “barbaric and inhumane,” linking the recent surge in attacks to intensified military operations against insurgents.
He assured residents that security agencies are taking necessary steps to prevent further incidents.
