Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command have arrested 27-year-old Mika’ilu Abubakar for allegedly assaulting an 8-year-old girl in Zakirai Village, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s elder brother at the NSCDC Divisional Office in Kiyawa, according to a statement released on Thursday, October 10, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud.

“One Mika’ilu Abubakar, aged 27, of Unguwar Yan Koli Zakirai Village in Kiyawa LGA, was arrested on Sunday, October 7, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m. for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl from Zakirai Village,” the statement read.

The victim’s brother reported that after returning from work, he inquired about his sister’s whereabouts and was informed that Abubakar had taken her to his house. When she returned home, she was crying and revealed that she had been assaulted.

Further details revealed that Abubakar had lured the girl to his house by taking her handbag and refusing to return it. Once inside his home, he allegedly locked the door and forced himself against her.
