The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of a lifeless body of a young boy near the ‘Hayin Kwarin Misau’ quarters in Gombe metropolis following a heavy downpour on Sunday evening.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, revealed in a statement on Monday that the boy, approximately 15 years old, was found lying dead at a gully erosion site, a location prone to water surges during intense rainfall.
According to DSP Abdullahi, the officer-in-charge of the Hayin Kwari Misau outstation reported the incident, suspecting that the teenager drowned during the torrential rains on Sunday night.
“Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives visited the scene to recover the body,” Abdullahi said.

A preliminary examination conducted by the team revealed no signs of injury or violence on the body, and no identification documents were found on the deceased.
Photographs were taken at the scene before the body was evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where a medical doctor certified him dead.
The police have since launched efforts to establish the boy’s identity and contact his relatives. Abdullahi called on the public to assist in the investigation.
“We appeal to anyone with useful information that could help identify the deceased or locate his family to kindly come forward or reach out to the nearest police station,” he urged.
