The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Baba Ali Mohammed, by a mob of irate youths in Rano town, Rano Local Government Area of the state.
Grassroots Parrot earlier reported how irate youths went berserk over the allegation that the DPO of Rano subjected one Abdullahi Musa to brutal physical assault, leading to his untimely death.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday, revealing that 27 suspects have been arrested in connection with the violent incident.
According to Kiyawa, the unrest followed the arrest of a motorcycle mechanic identified as Abdullahi Musa, who was reportedly detained on May 25 around 8:15 p.m. for reckless and dangerous riding and was suspected to be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
