-Police Deploy Intensified Patrols, Ban Fireworks, Horse Riding to Ensure Peaceful Festivities
The Kano State Police Command has concluded comprehensive security arrangements for the Christmas and New Year festivities, assuring residents of the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, gave the assurance during a strategic meeting with operational commanders, including heads of departments, area and tactical commanders, as well as divisional police officers.
The meeting, the command said, followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at ensuring a safe, peaceful and crime-free Christmas and New Year celebration.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, CP Bakori ordered intensified patrols, enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations and confidence-building engagements throughout the festive period.

According to the statement, the command has also strengthened collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents before, during and after the celebrations.
The police boss further directed all operational commanders to ensure adequate security at worship centres and recreational facilities, alongside round-the-clock visibility patrols, effective traffic control and expanded intelligence gathering across the state.
As part of the security measures, residents were advised to remain vigilant and avoid suspicious objects, while promptly reporting any suspicious persons or movements to the police. The command also warned against reckless driving, stressing that underaged children and unlicensed individuals are prohibited from operating vehicles, tricycles or motorcycles, adding that over-speeding and dangerous driving would not be tolerated.

The police announced a total ban on fireworks and prohibited all forms of unauthorised horse riding, warning that any act capable of breaching public peace would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
