The Kano State Police Command has arrested 41 suspects and seized dangerous weapons and intoxicating drugs during a series of raids on criminal hideouts across the state. The operation, which targeted areas known for criminal activities, is part of the command’s ongoing efforts to enhance security in Kano.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this development in a statement released on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He highlighted that the raids were conducted in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who has emphasized the importance of round-the-clock visibility patrols and intelligence-led policing.

“Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, the Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime in the state,” Kiyawa said.
The raids, which focused on criminal hideouts and black spots within Kano Metropolis, led to the arrest of 41 suspects and the recovery of various dangerous weapons and intoxicating drugs. The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to ensure that all suspects are brought to justice.
“This achievement is a testament to the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the good people of Kano State,” the statement added. The Police Command noted a noticeable decline in crime rates across the state, attributing this success to the cooperation and support of law-abiding citizens.
