Kano Pillars Football Club has suspended its technical adviser, Ogenyi Evans, and chief coach, Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro, with immediate effect following the team’s poor run in the ongoing 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The decision was announced on Monday in a statement released by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, stating that the move is part of management’s efforts to restructure and improve the team’s performance.
According to the club, Pillars have played eight league matches, managing only two wins, two draws, and four defeats, a performance the management described as far below expectations for a team of Kano Pillars’ stature.

In the interim, former club captain and Assistant Coach, Gambo Muhammad, will take charge of the team, assisted by Goalkeeping Coach, Suleiman Shuaibu, and Coach Garzali Muhammad from Junior Pillars, who joins on an ad hoc basis.
The development follows a turbulent few weeks for the club, which was recently sanctioned by the NPFL over crowd violence during a home fixture against Shooting Stars. The penalties include a ₦9.5 million fine, deduction of three points and three goals, and an order to play their next 10 home matches behind closed doors in Katsina.
Currently, Kano Pillars sit 20th on the NPFL table after nine matches—a worrying position for the four-time league champions who are battling to restore their form and reputation.
