The Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to reconsider his administration’s “anti-people policies” or face the risk of being voted out in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Dungurawa highlighted the NNPP’s growing strength across the country and dismissed speculation that the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“With these harsh, anti-people policies and your refusal to reconsider, prepare for defeat in the next general elections,” Dungurawa declared. “Either you change them, or we Nigerians will change you.”

Dungurawa criticized President Tinubu’s approach since assuming office on May 29, 2023, claiming the administration had been relentless in introducing measures that have worsened the plight of Nigerians.
“It’s as though Nigerians offended him, as these policies have continued relentlessly,” he said. “With these issues, and many others caused by the APC government, it’s only a matter of time before we ensure Tinubu is voted out in 2027. Kwankwaso, a true democrat, will step in to lead.”
The NNPP chairman took the opportunity to praise the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing him as a model of democratic governance.
He cited significant achievements in infrastructure development, empowerment initiatives, and human capital growth.

“Today, Kano can compete with any modern city globally, thanks to state-of-the-art facilities in both urban and rural areas,” he noted.
Dungurawa also raised concerns about what he described as the APC’s attempts to establish a one-party state, warning of the dangers of stifling democracy in Nigeria.
“Kano remains a shining example of what true leadership can achieve. It is now up to us to replicate this success at the national level in 2027,” he added.
In outlining the NNPP’s expansion efforts, Dungurawa emphasized that the party had established offices and structures across all 36 states and local government areas of the federation.
He expressed confidence that these developments would position the NNPP to secure both state and federal seats in the upcoming elections.

Dungurawa concluded by urging the federal government to focus on policies that alleviate the suffering of Nigerians and align with their aspirations.
