A Kano man, Umar Inusa, has been arraigned in a sharia court for allegedly assaulting his wife and inflicting serious injuries on her body following a minor disagreement.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over their children’s lunch arrangements.
According to the police, the altercation began when Inusa instructed his daughters to have their lunch at the house of his other wife.

His wife objected to the decision, which led to an argument. In response, Inusa allegedly attacked her, leaving her with enormous injuries.
Inusa was charged with the use of excessive force. He pleaded not guilty to the charges when brought before Khadi Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwar Gini.
The court granted him bail on the grounds that the couple remains married and has children together.
The case has been adjourned until November 20, 2024, for witness testimony.
