Kano Govt Allocates ₦2.67 Billion For Developmental Projects

The Kano State Executive Council has approved two billion, six hundred and sixty-five million, six hundred and forty-six thousand, seven hundred and fifty-six naira, and forty-four kobo (₦2,665,646,756.44) for multiple projects in the state.

The council gave the approval during the 17th council meeting aimed at fostering sustainable development and improving the safety of residents across the state.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the approved projects reflect the government’s commitment to infrastructural growth and efficient public service delivery.

“These initiatives are designed to elevate public services and infrastructure across Kano State, addressing both current needs and future demands,” Dawakin Tofa stated.

One of the key projects is the renovation and conversion of part of the Kano State Library into an office complex for the Ministry of Transport and offices of Special Advisers to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, with a budget of ₦268,160,455.84.

This renovation is expected to provide modern, functional workspaces, thereby enhancing the efficiency of government operations and service delivery.

Another significant undertaking is the establishment of a computer-based testing (CBT) and information and communication technology (ICT) center, budgeted at ₦309,784,126.72.

This center will offer state-of-the-art facilities for educational testing and training, bolstering the state’s educational infrastructure and promoting digital literacy among students and professionals.

Additionally, the council approved the relocation, re-instalment, and upgrading of the Golden Jubilee Monument at Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Bridge along Emir’s Palace Road, costing ₦164,949,693.46.

This project aims to preserve and enhance this important cultural landmark, contributing to the state’s heritage conservation efforts.

The infrastructure overhaul also includes other critical projects, such as:

Provision of intervention for washout menace at an existing 3-cell 900mm-diameter ring culvert along Gwarzo-Shanono Road (₦77,540,743.19).

Laterite filling of a 2-km road from Riga to Karkari in Gwarzo LGA (₦43,382,210.10).

Revalidation and approval for outstanding payment for the construction of Dangote Female Hostel and landscaping at the Kano State University of Science & Technology, Wudil (₦30,579,961.24).

expansion of the scope of work at AKTH Bridge through Naibawa/Yar-Akwa Junction (₦275,992,011.92).

Expansion of the scope of work at Zaria Road Flyover to Kwanar Dawaki (₦251,782,112.23).

Expansion of the scope of work at Hadeja Road/Ahmadu Bello Way Roundabout through Eastern Bypass Roundabout to Tokarawa (₦286,475,441.74).

purchase of five dump trucks for the Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency (WRECA) (₦455,000,000.00).

These projects collectively highlight the government’s proactive approach to addressing infrastructural challenges and improving public services.

The investments are expected to significantly impact the state’s development trajectory, fostering economic growth and enhancing the overall quality of life for Kano’s residents.
