Kano Governor Presents 2025 Budget, Highlights 77% Performance For 2024

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has presented a proposed 2025 budget totaling N549.16 billion to the State Assembly.

The proposed budget aims for a 57:43 capital-to-recurrent expenditure ratio, with capital spending set at N312.63 billion and recurrent expenditure at N236.52 billion.

Gov. Yusuf emphasized that social and economic sectors would receive the largest share of capital spending, with a combined allocation of N461.45 billion.

Breaking down sector allocations, the governor noted that education is set to receive N168.35 billion (31%), health N90.6 billion (16.5%), agriculture N21.04 billion (3.83%), and infrastructure development N70.68 billion (12.87%).

Other sectors, including manufacturing, commerce, and tourism, will receive N3.89 billion (1.22%), while environment and sanitation are allocated N15.52 billion (2.83%). Governance Institutions will account for N98.24 billion (17.57%).

Reflecting on the 2024 budget, Governor Yusuf reported a 77% implementation rate, with substantial achievements made possible by blocking revenue leakages.

He acknowledged the challenges citizens faced in 2024 due to economic reforms, rising prices, and exchange rate pressures, which led to protests in August.

In response, Gov. Abba Yusuf underscored the importance of addressing youth needs and developing programs to support their stability and future.
