Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Friday, received conjoined twins Hassana and Hussaina alongside their parents at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport after their successful separation surgery in Saudi Arabia.

The twins, who were born joined at the lower abdomen, pelvis, and spine, underwent a delicate 14-hour operation at the King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh.

The complex procedure, which was completed in nine phases, brought together a 38-member team of pediatric surgeons, neurospecialists, anesthesiologists, and other experts.

The surgery was carried out under the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as part of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian outreach.

Speaking at the reception, Saudi Arabia’s Consul General, Khalil Ahmed Al-Admawi, highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to humanitarian medical interventions.

He noted that through the Saudi Siamese Twins Separation Program, 65 successful surgeries have been recorded, with assistance extended to over 150 sets of twins from 25 countries in the past 35 years.

Governor Yusuf expressed deep gratitude to the Saudi leadership and medical team for their generosity and expertise.

He assured that the Kano State Government would take full responsibility for Hassana and Hussaina’s welfare, including sponsoring their education up to university level.

Community leaders, government officials, and representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia joined in celebrating the safe return of the twins, marking the occasion as a moment of joy and renewed hope for the family and the state.
