A Kano State High Court sitting at Miller Road has sentenced a man, Adamu Isma’ila Arzai, to death by hanging after finding him guilty of the murder of his friend, Auwal Shehu Kabara.

The tragic incident, which dates back to 2016, occurred during a heated altercation between the two friends while they were travelling to Bauchi for a business trip.

According to the prosecution, the dispute erupted over a hat and escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Arzai fatally stabbed Kabara.

The prosecution, led by Wahida Isma’il, called five witnesses during the trial to establish the events leading to Kabara’s death. The accused also took the stand in his own defense.

In delivering his judgment, Justice Muhammad Musa Karaye ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

He held that the evidence presented clearly linked the convict to the act, which resulted in the death of the victim.

Justice Karaye subsequently sentenced Arzai to death by hanging, in accordance with the penal code.
