The Kano Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has unveiled plans to co-host a summit on Solution Journalism in collaboration with Nigerian security agencies.

Chairman of the Chapel, Murtala Adewale, disclosed this during a “Tea Break” session in Kano, an informal gathering created for members to relax and exchange ideas after work.

According to him, security agencies have shown interest in supporting a new approach to journalism that emphasizes constructive storytelling, positive outcomes, and replicable solutions to societal challenges.

“Solution Journalism inspires change by offering actionable insights. It balances critical reporting with narratives that highlight strategies, challenges, and successes,” Adewale said.

Guest speaker, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at Bayero University, Kano, urged journalists to embrace unity and professionalism in serving the public interest and fostering national development.

The event drew veteran journalists and publishers, including former NUJ Kano Chairman Abbas Ibrahim, former Commissioner for Information Baba Halilu Dantiye, and Solacebase Publisher, as well as spokespersons of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police, among other dignitaries.
