A group of residents from Fagge in Kano State has filed an ex parte application before a magistrates’ court seeking an arrest warrant against the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Abdullahi Abbas, over allegations they say threaten public order and community peace.
The application, submitted by ten community members on behalf of other “peace-loving residents,” urges the court to direct the Commissioner of Police to arrest and investigate Abbas for allegedly violating multiple provisions of the Kano State Penal Code.
According to the plaintiffs, the APC chairman’s alleged actions amount to offences including intentional insult capable of provoking disorder, incitement of class hostility, defamation, and conduct likely to disturb public peace. These claims were linked to Sections 399, 417, 391–393, 114, and 100 of the Penal Code.
In a supporting statement, the applicants said they approached the court to safeguard the reputation and cohesion of the Fagge community, insisting that remarks attributed to Abbas had triggered anxiety among residents and could escalate tensions if left unchecked.

They stressed that the community could not overlook behaviour they believe may fuel division or undermine harmony. Their legal team further argued that decisive action was necessary to prevent a potential breakdown of order.
The petitioners also proposed an alternative request: if the court chooses not to issue an arrest warrant, it should instead compel Abbas to appear by issuing a criminal summons.
The application, dated November 10, 2025, was filed by a team of lawyers led by A.A. Hikima, with support from H.S. Bello, E.O., Ekaun, Ridwan Yunusa, Z.A. Sabuwa, Aliyu Kabiru, Suleiman Naima, N.A. Abdulmumeen, and Khadija Abba.
The court is expected to take up the motion during its next sitting.
