The Kaduna State House of Assembly has called for the immediate refund of N36 billion allegedly paid for illegal contractual transactions during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i.
This demand was made in the recommendations submitted by the House Committee, which was set up to probe alleged fraud and abuse of office by El-Rufa’i’s government.
According to the committee, the El-Rufa’i administration paid N36 billion for contracts that were either not executed or violated state procurement laws.

The committee’s report listed several contractors who are required to refund the specified amounts to the Kaduna State Government. The contractors include:

The total amount to be refunded is N36,351,126,811.65. Additionally, the committee identified unjustified cash withdrawals amounting to N4,936,916,333.00 made between 2019 and 2022 by the Commissioner of Finance and the Accountant General of the State.
These withdrawals have been recommended for in-depth investigation and necessary action by appropriate law enforcement agencies.
The committee also highlighted the unjustified withdrawal of $1.4 million from the Kaduna State Economic Transformation Account between October 30, 2020, and May 6, 2020, recommending further investigation by relevant agencies.

The committee also called for the recovery of N632,456,000.00 paid to Tulip Future Associates Ltd. without official engagement as consultants.
The House Committee’s findings and recommendations aim to address the alleged financial misconduct and ensure accountability for public funds in Kaduna State.
