The Jigawa State governor, Malam Umar Namadi has visited wheat farmers in Ethiopia in his bid to boost agriculture sector in his state and wheat farming in particular.
Namadi, during his trip to the East African country, visited three farming clusters in one zone to practically see and interact with the farmers for experience sharing.
A statement by the governor’s spokesman, Hajiya Zainab Rabo Ringim, explained that the study tour was part of effort to boost wheat production in the state.
The statement noted that the governor and his entourage – numbering ten – will hold a meeting at 2PM at the 6th floor of B building of MOA.
According to the statement, “The session will focus on research, seed system, irrigation, mechanization & ACC Cluster approach.”

“The cardinal objective of this experience sharing visit under the administration of His Excellency Governor Malam Umar Namadi FCA is to prepare Jigawa state to champion wheat revolution for the nation to become self-sufficient in wheat production and on a sustainable manner.
“Cataloging the activities of her principal in Ethiopia disclosed that “On Monday 15/04/2024 presentations were made to the visiting team by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture Officials under the leadership of the minister of state on
“Irrigated Wheat Development Initiative – National Wheat Flagship Program; Achievements and Lessons”
“From Wheat Dependency to Economic Prosperity Where after the presentations questions were asked and some insights availed.” It stated.
Those who embarked on the trip with the governor included Commissioner for Agriculture, Alh Muntaka Namadi, Technical Adviser to HE on Agriculture, Dr Saifullahi Umar, the Permanent Secretary Auwalu Ado Shehu, SA Cluster Farming Mohd Idris Danzomo, SA Crops Gambo Ibrahim Aliyu, Chairman AFAN Jigawa State, Chairman Wheat Farmers Association Jigawa State.
