Igbo Presidency, Kanu’s Release Possible With Support For Tinubu’s 2027 Bid – Cubana

CUBANA

Popular socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has called on the people of the South-East to support Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that such alignment could facilitate the release of detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The celebrity barman made the appeal on Wednesday while reacting to a viral video in which a South-East monarch urged the President to either release Kanu or return him to Kenya, where he was arrested.

In his reaction, Cubana Chief Priest commended the monarch for personally taking the message to Abuja, describing the move as necessary to ensure the President directly hears the concerns of the South-East region.

Writing in Pidgin English via social media, he praised the royal father for participating in national discourse, suggesting that without his presence in Abuja, critics might have accused him of compromising.

He urged the South-East to “align” with the current administration instead of maintaining a confrontational stance, stressing that cooperation with the Federal Government would yield better outcomes. According to him, political alignment remains key to achieving the release of Kanu.

The businessman also referenced the 2023 presidential election, noting that Tinubu secured victory without significant electoral support from the South-East. He suggested that a similar outcome could occur in 2027 unless the region reconsiders its political strategy.

Cubana Chief Priest further argued that supporting Tinubu’s re-election could position the Igbo people strategically to produce a president in the future.

He pointed out that Tinubu played a role in the emergence of former President Muhammadu Buhari and later became President himself, expressing optimism that he could also support an Igbo presidency if given backing for another term.

His comments come days after a traditional ruler from the South-East, Dr. Lawrence Agubuzu, the Eze Ogbunechendo of Ezema Olo Kingdom, publicly appealed to President Tinubu to release Kanu or return him to Kenya, warning that his continued detention is fueling agitation among youths in the region.
