A lecturer at the Department of Physical Health Education, University of Maiduguri, Dr Kamar Abdulkadir, has been stabbed to death in his office.
Grassroots Parrot reports that Dr Abdulkadir was in his office on Easter day (Sunday) to clear a pending work when the assailants murdered him.
The deceased reportedly took the advantage of the Easter holiday to tidy up some work on his table when the assailants sneaked in and killed him.
Sources at the institution said the university don was brutally murdered with knife and hammer, leaving him in the pool of his blood.

It was gathered that the attackers also escaped with Dr Abdulkadir’s car and some other valuables. Meanwhile, many people are attributing the murder to the position held as the faculty examination officer.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the University spokesman, Prof Danjuma Gambo, told newsmen that the lecturer was murdered on Sunday evening.
According to him, the police and other security agencies have launched their investigation into the matter.
Gambo explained that the University management will allow the police and other security agencies to conclude their investigation, and certainly they would give a report on what actually happened and why.

Meanwhile, Borno State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with the murder.
Spokesman of Borno State Police Command, ASP Daso Kenneth, disclosed the arrest to journalists on Monday in Maiduguri.
Kenneth called for calm, saying that the Police Command was on top of the situation.
