Group Accuses Kwankwaso of Sponsoring Online Attacks, Asks Amnesty International To Verify Claims

The Kano Peace Coalition Group has alleged that the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is behind activities aimed at creating political tension and uncertainty in Kano State through the manipulation of youth groups, particularly on social media.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the group’s State Coordinator, Datti Datti Tukur, claimed that youths linked to the Kwankwasiyya Movement have recently intensified online attacks against prominent political figures, including Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and others perceived to oppose Kwankwaso’s political ideology.

The group cited an instance where social media handlers allegedly portrayed Governor Yusuf in female attire with makeup in what it described as an attempt to ridicule his personality.

Tukur further alleged that one Abba Ibrahim Hussain, also known as “Aiha,” described as a cyberstalker allegedly linked to Kwankwaso, was remanded in prison on February 23, 2026, by a Magistrate Court along Zungeru Road following charges of cyberbullying, stalking, and incitement filed by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano.

The group also mentioned Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, who it said had previously been cautioned by security operatives over alleged involvement in online campaigns targeting the governor but was neither detained nor harassed.

According to the coalition, another individual, Samir Sani Hanga, son of Senator Sani Hanga, was allegedly cautioned by security authorities over claims of cyberbullying and stalking, while Abdullahi Aminu Warkal was reportedly invited by security agencies to respond to allegations involving an alleged N10 million fraud.

The group called on Amnesty International to verify claims thoroughly before issuing statements on alleged harassment of political opponents in Kano, stressing the need for fairness and professionalism.

It added that tackling cyberbullying and online incitement is essential to maintaining peace and respect for constituted authority in the state.
