Gov. Yusuf Swears In New Commissioners, Secretaries, Advisers In Kano

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State swore in seven new Commissioners, six Permanent Secretaries, and 13 Special Advisers on Monday, signaling a renewed commitment to good governance in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Kano, highlighted the administration’s focus on inclusivity and competence in delivering its development agenda.

The governor announced the portfolios of the newly appointed Commissioners as follows:

  • Ibrahim Wayya: Commissioner for Information
  • Shehu Sagagi: Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry
  • Dahiru Muhammad: Commissioner for Environment

  • Ismail Aliyu: Commissioner for Finance
  • Gaddafi Shehu: Commissioner for Power and Sustainable Energy
  • Abdulkadir Abdulsalam: Commissioner for Rural and Community Development
  • Nura Maaji: Commissioner for Public Procurement

Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of dedication and commitment from the appointees, stating that their selection was based on merit and their ability to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s objectives.

“Your appointments are a testament to the trust and confidence we have in your capacity to help drive Kano’s progress.

We expect nothing less than total dedication, integrity, and a focus on delivering results that will uplift the lives of our people,” the governor said.

He reiterated his administration’s focus on critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, health, women and youth empowerment, water supply, and agriculture.

Gov. Yusuf also lauded the State House of Assembly for its collaboration and support in advancing the state’s development.

In his response on behalf of the appointees, the newly appointed Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry, Shehu Sagagi, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity. He assured the administration of their unwavering commitment to delivering on their mandates.

“We are deeply honored by this responsibility and pledge to justify the confidence you have placed in us. We will work diligently and uphold the principles of accountability and transparency,” Sagagi stated.
