The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains under prosecution for alleged bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has confirmed.

Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the PCACC, made the disclosure on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.

He reaffirmed that the case against the former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and other defendants is progressing.

When asked about the continuation of the prosecution despite the former governor’s recent arrest, Rimingado said, “Yes, we are prosecuting him in person.

In fact, we have been on this investigation since 2021. I was made to leave and passed through a series of tribulations, including arrest, detention, assault, and humiliation. When I came back, I continued from where I stopped. So, I am not witch-hunting anybody.”

The case, which has drawn significant public attention, includes an eight-count charge of bribery and misappropriation of public funds allegedly totaling billions of naira.

A Kano State High Court has adjourned the hearing of preliminary objections in the case to February 13, 2025.

The charges, brought by the Kano State Government, also implicate several co-defendants, including Ganduje’s wife, Hafsat Umar, and others such as Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.

Despite the ongoing legal challenges, President Bola Tinubu recently appointed Ganduje as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) board. The appointment has sparked public debate, with critics questioning the timing and implications of the decision.
