First Lady Senator Tinubu Empowers 500 Women In Nasarawa

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu empowers 500 women in Nasarawa  has empowered 500 women in Nasarawa State with essential household items to support their livelihoods.

The items, which include deep freezers, gas cookers, generators and grinding machines, were presented at Government House in Lafia on Friday.

Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Silifat Sule, the wife of Nasarawa State Governor, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.

She said the gesture was facilitated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative.

“This empowerment programme is not limited to Nasarawa State but will also benefit other North Central States, including Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

WhatsApp Image 2025 02 21 at 2.22.03 PM (1)In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mr Emmanuel Yonah, commended Senator Tinubu for her efforts in promoting gender equality and women empowerment.

“We appreciate and commend the office of the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for her tires efforts in promoting gender equality and women empowerment  through initiatives like the Renewed Hope Initiative,” he said.

He also appreciated Hajiya Sule for complementing the First Lady’s efforts through her foundation, Silifat Abdullahi Sule (SAS) Foundation.

Earlier, Elsie Monde, Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Women Affairs, thanked Senator Tinubu for the gesture, saying it will go a long way in supporting the livelihoods of the beneficiaries.

She urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items but to use them to boost their livelihoods.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Liatu Abari from Lafia Local Government Area and Mrs Hauwa Mohammed from Toto LGA, expressed gratitude to Tinubu for providing them with the essential items and promised to make judicious use of them.

Grassroot Parrot reports that empowerment programme is part of Senator Tinubu’s efforts to promote women empowerment and reduce poverty in Nigeria.
