In a move to expand youth empowerment initiatives, the Honourable Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, has announced plans by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to address the housing deficit across the nation and boost empowerment among the teeming youths.
In a statement signed by media aide to the minister, Seyi Olorunsola, Ata noted that the initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development is to broaden access and participation of youths in the Renewed Hope Housing Project—one of the key agendas of President Tinubu’s administration.
The minister who made this disclosure during a recent courtesy visit by the North West Youth Forum to his office in Abuja.
The Forum, a coalition of youth groups across the Northwest geopolitical zone, commended the minister for his dedication to youth development and national cohesion.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum, Arch. Bala Sani-Umar lauded Ata’s inclusive leadership and called on young Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu’s development agenda.
“Your efforts in mentoring and mobilizing youths towards national development are commendable. We believe in this government’s vision and urge our peers to support the Renewed Hope agenda,” he said.
In his remarks, Minister Ata emphasized that the Renewed Hope Housing Project is not just about infrastructure but a socio-economic strategy to empower Nigerians—particularly young people—through access to affordable housing, employment generation, and financial inclusion.
“The President’s Renewed Hope Housing Project is designed to serve as a lifeline to young professionals, artisans, and informal workers. It’s not just about homes—it’s about dignity, opportunity, and ownership,” Ata said.

He noted that housing units are currently being developed across the 36 states and the FCT, with special provisions for low- and middle-income earners. The minister encouraged youths to visit www.fmhud.gov.ng to register and begin their homeownership journey.
Rt. Hon. Ata also revealed forthcoming inter-ministerial efforts with the Ministry of Youth to amplify awareness and facilitate easier access to the housing scheme nationwide. “We’re forging a synergy between the Housing and Youth Ministries to ensure that young Nigerians in every community know that this opportunity exists—and that it’s for them,” he stated.
He urged Nigerian youths to shift from passive commentary to active participation. “The time for sidelines is over. This is your moment—seize it. Let’s build, own, and shape the Nigeria we want,” Ata declared.
The visit concluded with renewed commitments from both parties to strengthen collaboration in driving inclusive development and giving Nigerian youths a stronger stake in the nation’s future.
