The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday, March 26, by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
The minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims across the country for successfully completing the Ramadan fast. He urged them to use the period for prayers, reflection, and fostering unity and peace within the nation.

Eid-el-Fitr is an annual festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide following the completion of the 29 or 30-day Ramadan fasting. The festival signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan and is usually marked with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity.
The Federal Government’s declaration of the public holidays aligns with its tradition of allowing Muslims to observe and celebrate the significant religious event with their families and communities.
